First TuesdaySU Members Invited to Pray on First Tuesday of Each Month SU members are invited to join together to pray for the needs and ministry of Scripture Union on the first Tuesday of each month. SU President Whitney T. Kuniholm explained First Tuesday this way. "First Tuesday is an invitation for all members to make the first Tuesday of each month a day of prayer and perhaps even fasting--for God's direction, for loved ones, for the church, for the world and for the ministry of Scripture Union. We believe God wants us to seek him, to listen for his voice and to follow his ways. That's what First Tuesday is all about." Prayer Requests Now Posted Each month, the prayer requests from SU staff are posted here on the First Tuesday section of the SU website (www.scriptureunion.org) for members and friends to see and pray for. Although many SU members pray for SU daily, First Tuesday will be a special day when they can know that they’re joining other SU members in bringing the needs of the church, the world and SU before the Lord. As Scripture Union continues its ministry in 2008, we ask for the prayers of all SU members and friends. May God be pleased and honored by all we do. Praise God for the Scripture Union Board meeting held in Valley Forge May 2-3 and for the hard work and good direction given by Board members. Pray that God will continue to encourage them and lead SU well through them. Praise God for the endorsement of Scripture Union's Essential 100 program by the National Hispanic Conference. Pray that many of the 18,000 Latino congregations in the USA would take "The Challenge". Praise God for our on-going partnership with The Salvation Army. Pray that God would enable Scripture Union to find the funding, staff and volunteers to launch 8 Regional ministry areas over the next few years. Pray for God to bless the SuperKids 2008 program and lead and protect the SU field staff and volunteers as they reach out with God's Good News to thousands of children all across the country this summer. Pray that many students and high school youth groups will volunteer to lead missions so that many children can hear and experience God's Good News. Pray for God to lead many churches and groups to implement SU's "Essential" programs, the Essential 100 and the Essential Jesus Challenges. Pray for God to use the copies of Discovery that are being distributed in Iraq and Afghanistan to help many military personnel meet God every day in his Word. Pray for God's blessing on the SU mission team, led by TJ Foltz, that will minister to children in Philadelphia and Puerto Rico this summer. Pray for additional team members, the support they must raise and their preparations for this ministry.
